This short course provides you with the fundamental knowledge base to better understand the complexity of the experience of misery or suffering in order to lend a helping hand or to give appropriate advice and guidance in times of turmoil. As a first of its kind in Kigali, the course provides aspiring counselors with training in the basic concepts and deepens existing counselors with additional necessary skills to practice counseling in different contexts.

3. Transformational Youth Ministry
According to the United Nations, “Africa has the youngest population in the world, with 70% of sub-Saharan Africa under the age of 30.” Such a high number of young people presents an opportunity for the church to build and empower and transform young people to be agents of positive change. Statistics have shown that more than 60% of youth pastors and other youth workers in Africa have no formal theological training. Hence a short course of transformational youth ministry is a need of the hour. This course will equip youth workers, parents, and caregivers with the understanding that youth ministry should not be a safe haven or retreat from the real world. It should be a place where young people can learn to assert their identity as believers who live in the world but who are not in the world.
